My Favorite Audiobooks so far
I usually have at least 2 or more books I am reading at any given time and one of the ways I do that is I listen to audiobooks when I am not able to sit and read. While I often will like a book whether I am listening to it or reading it myself, there are some audiobooks I loved simply because the narration was so good! I've even listened to a few again just because I enjoyed the narrator's voice that much. Following is a list of these books. I will add to it if I find more and I surely hope I do!
- Stories I Only Tell My Friends by Rob Lowe. The author reads it himself and the impressions he does of his celebrity friends are hilarious! You'll really feel like Rob Lowe is telling you a story that, well, that he only tells his friends.
- Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie. Read by Dan Stevens of "Downton Abbey" fame. Stevens does all the voices, including the females and the different ages, so brilliantly it sounds like 10 people are reading it to you. Better than watching a movie!
- Matilda by Roald Dahl. Read by Kate Winslet. I do not actually enjoy Kate Winslet all that much in the movies but she is fantastic here reading this wacky children's book. Clever and fun.
- The Little House on the Prairie Series by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Read by Cherry Jones. Ms. Jones has become the voice of the author for me and brings these classics to life with great inflection, capturing the voice and tone of each character, and (bonus points!) - she sings all the songs that you can only guess the tunes of when you are reading the book, accompanied by a fiddle even! Her voice is so soothing to me, I listen to these 9 books on a continuous loop for the most part.
